Your Ultimate Guide to Finding the Perfect Wedding Photographer

After saying yes to your significant other's proposal, or maybe even before that, you might be thinking about who you want to capture your big day. With all the decisions that go into planning a wedding, we wanted to give you a quick guide to help make finding a photographer a little easier.

Tip #1: ASK A FRIEND

Strength in numbers doesn’t apply to just the Golden State Warriors but also when it comes to knowledge. Your married or soon-to-be-married friends probably have done their research, so asking for a few recommendations can help you narrow down the list. Also, ask whose work they have been following on social media.

Tip #2: FIGURE OUT A STYLE THAT YOU LIKE

If you don’t know what you like, it might take you a long time to find a photographer. There are many types of photographers and styles; think about what draws you toward a photo (color, light, movement, etc.). Do you like dark and moody, bright and vibrant, light and airy, photojournalistic, fine art, digital/film, or natural? Some of the few looks and styles to consider.

Tip #3: RESEARCH

Doing research is very important. A few places to look can be on IG, Yelp, or services like the Knot. With so many available, there should be enough information for you to find out their rates, previous work, packages, and any other information you might want to know. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

Tip #4: MEET AND CONNECT

One of the most important things that we always tell our clients is to make sure you vibe well with your vendors. Meet potential photographers and get to know them, and let them get to know you. Make sure your personalities align and that you like each other’s personalities. If something doesn’t seem right, that could be a red flag that helps you avoid issues in the future.

Tip #5: ASK QUESTIONS

Putting everything on the table will reduce the chances of complications. Once you’re fully informed, you’ll be able to make a decision that you'll be happy with. You never know if you don’t ask.

Tip #6: HAVE FUN

Have fun and don’t stress during the process.
