When we started this business, one of the core values that all three of us prioritize is family. Naturally, we love photographing families and the love that is shared between them. When Kacie contacted us, I (Thien) was most excited because Kacie and I use to work at the same school together.
Not only that I was photographing family photos, I got to capture 50 years of love between their parents. They have been married for 50 years and it was their anniversary so we were able to squeeze in a portrait session for their parents.
We were blessed with a beautiful day at Cypress Tree Tunnel in Point Reyes National Seashore. We were right next to Moss Beach where the sea lions were hanging out and enjoying the sun like us too. The open space created for an epic backdrop for their group photos and the tall trees created a dramatic feel brings out more emotions when you look at the photos. The Cypress trees created a natural focus and a place for the kids to run around. We definitely got a workout chasing the kids around to photograph them in the natural state. Getting everyone to look all at once isn’t too difficult if you have the family’s consent to bribe them with playing with sticks after taking photos. Taking family photos is not a one person job. Parents were busy being goofy to get their little ones’ attention.
We try to preserve the natural feel of the session without posing them too much. With a lot of candids and a few posed photos, we were able to photograph three generations of love, hopes and dreams.
Half Moon Bay a one of our favorite locations to take outdoor family photos because we are surround by the beautiful waters and Cypress trees. The hike to all the location is family friendly and is always great to go outside and get some fresh air.
